DOWN LIGHTING

Down lighting can be used anywhere in many places to shine light from above downward to accent subjects below.  Many common uses are tree and trellis down lights.

GRAZING

Grazing can be used to enhance textures of surfaces vertically. This method works best on brick and stone walls.

PATH LIGHTS

Path lights, also know as pathway lights, are simply that. These lights can be used to illuminate paths, sidewalks and walkways.  Be sure to stagger and place in a manor to accent shrubs and ground foliage.

SHADOWING

This method creates a shadow of a subject on the vertical surface behind it. The closer the light is to the subject the bigger the shadow will be on the vertical surface behind the subject.

SILHOUETTING

This method creates a silhouette of a subject to show shape and color. Flood and wide beams work best for this method. Be sure to place light in an area that is hidden to get the full effect of this style.

STEP AND DECK

This style illuminates high traffic areas. There are many styles and finishes of lights that are made to be built into the deck and or the steps.

UP LIGHTING

One of the most widely used methods to light your landscape. You can use this style on trees, fountains, water features and much more. Make sure to place the light such that the fixture is not seen. Only the light that is projectes should be seen.

This transformer layout is referred to as a Straight Run installation.
This is the most common layout of wire from the transformer. Fixtures are ran in a straight line in sequence.

This transformer layout is referred to as a Loop installation.
In this method, wiring is looped starting from the transformer to all lights and returned to the transformer. This method works best when trying to reduce voltage drop.

This transformer layout is referred to as a Split Load  installation.
In a split load installation, wiring is split in the center of the run in any direction from the transforer to all lights.

This transformer layout is referred to as a “T” installation.
Use heavier gauge wire to the “T” intersection to reduce voltage drop and help to extend your wiring run farther distances.
